Biographical Sketch
Stefano GIORDANI is Full Professor of Operations Research at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Impresa. He was born in Rome in 1964, and graduated in Electronic Engineering from the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1991. He got a PhD in Operations Research from the same University in 1999. From November 1999 until October 2002 he was Assistant Professor of Operations Research at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Dipartimento di Informatica Sistemi e Produzione. From November 2002 until December 2012 he was Associate Professor of Operations Research at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Impresa. Since 2011 he is the Chairman of the B. and M.Sc. degree course programme in Management Engineering of the same university. His primary research areas, from the methodological side, include combinatorial optimization, analyzing in particular sequencing, scheduling, routing, and graph optimization problems. From the application point of view, his main research areas cover railway resource and traffic management, aircraft traffic management in the terminal area, hazardous material transportation, logistics and supply chain management. He published more than thirtyfive papers on international journals, including Annals of Operations Research, Computational Optimizations & Applications, Computers & Industrial Engineering, Computers & Operations Research, Discrete Applied Mathematics, Discrete Mathematics, Information Processing Letters, International Journal of Mathematics in Operational Research, Journal of Heuristics, Journal of Scheduling, Naval Research Logistics, Networks, Neurocomputing, Operations Research, Transportation Research Part C, Transportation Science; he is also co-author of more than forty papers appeared on books or conference proceedings.
